Xiaomi opens a factory in Istanbul

The world famous Chinese company Xiaomi has announced the launch of its production in Istanbul. It happenned after Chinese tech giant Oppo began test production of smartphones at a newly opened facility in Istanbul's Tuzla district.

According to a press release published by Xiaomi, the official opening is scheduled for March 29 in the Avcilar district of Istanbul. The sale of smartphones in the local market will begin in April 2021.

The importance of this event for the development of the country's economy, Minister of Industry and Technology of Turkey Mustafa Varank when visiting the plant. The head of the Ministry of Industry drew the attention of journalists to the fact that usually Xiaomi is establishing joint production with its partners. In Turkey, Xiaomi has become a partner of Salcomp.

“Salcomp remains one of the most renowned brands in technology. This factory was built in 1975, they purchased it, modernized it. The production will be carried out in a premises with an area of ​​15 thousand square meters. A zone of "clean rooms" of 7,500 sq.m. As you know, Xiaomi is one of the world's tech giants today. This Chinese company occupies one of the leading positions in the market. And this company has started production of smartphones in Turkey, ”the minister said.
