One of the previously unknown tourist provinces of Turkey, Canakkale, on the coasts of the Aegean and Marmara Seas of Turkey, has launched an active advertising campaign of its own tourism opportunities for Russian tourists. The main points to which she draws attention are its proximity to Istanbul and, therefore, the possibility of excursion tours to the main metropolis of the country, and certainly the rich historical heritage of the province itself. Did you know that it is here that the legendary ancient Greek Troy is located, which was discovered by the German archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann in 1870. The province is famous for its numerous bays and bays along the sea coast, so the slogan will be: "Trilogy of the sea, sand and sun".
“To overcome the challenges that the entire travel industry has faced since the coronavirus, we have focused on promotions aimed at markets in different countries. The hotels are working to attract potential tourists from Russia to foreign countries to the Turkish market and in Canakkale, ”Mehmet Hilmi Satar, representative of the Turkish Hotel Association (TUROB) in Canakkale, told Anadolu. He added that if we talk about the Russian market, which is extremely important for the whole of Turkey and for the province in particular, the advertising campaign has already started.
A little about the place itself
On the territory of the excavations of Troy itself, an excursion route has been laid, marked with special arrows. At the entrance there is a model of the famous Trojan horse and the house where Schliemann lived. From the Mycenaean southern wall, belonging to Troy VI, you can go to the Roman theater, the "Dardanian gate", the terrace of the Temple of Athena and the place of sacrifices. Remains of a gate and a ramp have been preserved from Troy II. The Archaeological Museum of Troy displays many local finds, as well as finds from other nearby ancient cities.
