Easing coronavirus restrictions

After a three-week lockdown in Turkey, which lasted from April 29 to May 17, now the daily increase in new patients has decreased by 5.5 times - the day before, 10,512 new cases were registered.

From Monday 05:00 on May 17, the so-called normalization process after a full lockdown begins in Turkey, in the framework of which some of the previously imposed restrictions are lifted. According to a circular issued by the Ministry of the Interior, from Monday the curfew continues on weekends and on weekdays from 21:00 to 05:00. Intercity travel is permitted except during the curfew period. Shopping centers will be open only on weekdays from 10:00 to 20:00. Restaurants will continue to operate only takeaway and delivery mode. These measures will be in effect until June 1.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs stressed that only foreigners who came for a short time with a tourist purpose are not subject to the curfew. The rest of the foreign nationals who have a residence permit and who are not in Turkey as part of a tourist trip must comply with the applicable restrictions.

Also, on May 17, after a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, a further strategy for the republic to combat coronavirus will probably be known.
