Today, the whole of Turkey celebrates the 108th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Canakkale. The Battle of Canakkale, known as the Dardanelles Operation or the Battle of Gallipoli, is considered one of the largest battles of the First World War, and for Turkey - the bloodiest in the history of the country. More than 180,000 soldiers died. For Turkey, this battle was an important event in history, when the heroism and steadfastness of Turkish soldiers saved the Ottoman Empire from defeat in 1915.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Parliament Speaker Mustafa Shentop will take part in the events on the occasion of the anniversary of the historic victory on the Gelibolu Peninsula.
