Medicine in Alanya

Health care is an important part of every person's life. Moving to a new country forces us to get acquainted with new rules and laws, including in the field of medical care. We want to talk about the Turkish healthcare system and the main medical institutions in Alanya.

The healthcare system in the republic is divided into private and public. Most Turkish citizens visit public hospitals, which are in no way inferior to private ones in terms of the quality of services provided, equipment and professionalism of the staff.
A national health insurance policy (SGK) can also be purchased by a foreigner starting from the second year of validity of the residence permit. The cost of such a policy starts from 1,700 Turkish liras per month. The policy covers all medical expenses in public institutions, including up to 80% of the cost of medicines prescribed by a doctor. One policy applies to all family members.

Foreigners who have just arrived in the country and are not able to take out a state insurance policy must purchase insurance that is valid in private clinics. Such insurances cover from 40% to 80% of the cost of medical services. The price depends on the age and gender of the insured, as well as on the selected coverage limit. Before buying a policy, we advise you to visit the hospital you would like to visit and check with the manager of the foreign department for a list of insurance companies with which they have concluded cooperation agreements.

We also remind you that foreigners with a residence permit can apply to polyclinics at the place of registration. In Turkey they are called Sağlığı ocağı. The visit is led by a family doctor. At the clinic, you can have some blood tests, get immunizations, and get a prescription for medicines.
