Why was the tourism sector left out of the green passport list?

Ağustos 27, 2024

The Turkish Grand National Assembly will consider 19 bills on the issue of green passports in the coming days. However, the list does not include representatives of the tourism industry, despite its key role in the global economy.

The proposed bills envisage granting green passports to categories such as judges, prosecutors, law enforcement officers, businessmen with 20 years of experience, international truck drivers, mayors, journalists, engineers and architects, village and neighborhood heads, accountants, financial consultants, notaries, private sector doctors, theater actors, teachers, TVNS consultants, trade union leaders and veterans. The tourism sector is not on the list.

Mediterranean Hotel and Business Association President Kaan Kafik Kavalogu, Antalya City Council Tourism Working Group Chairman Recep Yavuz and Antalya Tour Guides Association Chairman Mustafa Yalçın Yalçınkaya expressed concern over the exclusion of the tourism sector. They stressed that tourism is one of the most important and integrated sectors in the global economy, and its representatives deserve to be included in the list of recipients of green passports.
