Turkey continues to discuss the date of the presidential and parliamentary elections. Speaking at a meeting in parliament, Turkish President and head of the Justice and Development Party Recep Tayyip Erdogan proposed calling elections for May 14, 2023. This date was proposed for a reason. It was on this day in 1950 that the Democratic Party, led by Adnan Menderes, overtook and won the election of the Kemalist People's Republican Party, whose followers are currently the opposition to the president.
