April 27, 2021

The construction of the Hasankeyf-2 Bridge (Hasankeyf-2 Köprüsü) was completed and on April 17, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoglu and - in an online format - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan inaugurated it.

This pedestrian and automobile bridge, which is part of the new Batman-Mardin highway, was also created to resolve the transport problem along the Batman-Midyat route.
The Ministry of Transport clarified that the new bridge across the Tigris River, crossing the dam (reservoir), is 1001 meters long. The maximum height of the supports is 90 meters, the maximum span is 168 meters. On the bridge, in addition to car lanes, the designers also provided a pedestrian zone.

The minister said that the Hasankeyf bridge will allow local residents to travel more economically and that thanks to it, 29 million lire worth of fuel will be saved.

Reconstruction of the Batman-Hasankeyf-Gerjush-Midyat highway will significantly improve transport links in the southeast of the country, increase the safety and comfort of road traffic. President Erdogan specified that 439 million Turkish liras were invested in the construction of the bridge.
