IV Economic and Business Forum "Turkey-Africa" in Istanbul

The IV Turkey-Africa Economic and Business Forum is being held at the Istanbul Convention Center on Oct. 12 and 13. African ministers and officials attending the forum called for a long-term partnership between the countries, noting that Turkey has expertise in many important sectors such as energy, telecommunications, transportation and healthcare. The need for cooperation in education and youth employment was also stated. Mutual investment opportunities in many fields, from energy to agriculture, from healthcare to banking and innovation, were discussed during the forum. Both sides expressed readiness for long-term partnership, work to increase trade turnover and further develop mutually beneficial cooperation.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Union of Comoros and the African Union Azali Assoumans, Minister of Commerce Prof. Dr. Omer Bolat, President of the African Union Commission Albert Muchanga, as well as other officials and state dignitaries are attending the forum.

Turkey's Finance Ministry to Reveal Names of Major Tax Debtors

Finance and Treasury Minister Mehmet Simsek said the names of taxpayers with tax arrears and fines of 5 million lira or more will be made public. Those who do not want to be on the list of "tax debtors" will have to pay off their debts by the end of September 2024. Taxpayers from earthquake-hit areas will be excluded from the measure.
