Turkish meteorologists predict record-breaking hot summer

March 5, 2024

Experts warned of record temperatures in the summer of 2024, noting that in January last year, the water temperature in the oceans reached a record 21.1 degrees Celsius and continues to rise. Professor Dr. Shermin Tagil, Head of the Department of Geography at Bakyrchai University, said that the effects of increasing climate change are beginning to be felt more and more in everyday life.

"Last year we entered the year of El Nino and witnessed abnormally high temperatures in various regions of the planet. El Nino was interrupted in January and now the transition to La Niña is predicted, when the temperature of ocean waters should drop, but for now it remains above average. The current situation and the ocean temperature that we monitored during the winter show that in the summer of 2024 we may face new temperature records," said the professor.
