Health Minister Fahrettin Kocia made a statement on the new variant of Eris coronavirus

September 28, 2023

Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koça made a statement about the new variant of Eris coronavirus after a cabinet meeting : "We know what this disease is and we are not planning any restrictions and closures. We are also not planning to conduct a new vaccination program."

"When Covid-19 emerged, we knew nothing about it. We now have full knowledge of the virus. We are monitoring the effects and changes of all the mutations. With these mutations, there is no increase in the virulence of the virus. Those mutations that have occurred are weaker variations of the virus and we are monitoring them closely. In this sense, there is absolutely no need to take any new measures for the Eris variant. In addition, Turkey has the Turkovac vaccine and all health-conscious citizens can get the vaccine any day in our public clinics. However, such vaccination is not mandatory," the minister said.
