A cab driver in Istanbul took tourists from Halkalı to Bakırköy and then to Taksim. The driver did not turn on the taximeter and demanded 3500 liras from them at the end of the trip. The tourists, who felt that the fare was too high, contacted the police. The police officers who arrived on the scene found out that the fee for such a long route should be no more than 600 liras. The cab driver was then fined 4064 liras.
