The Indonesian authorities have previously approved the opening of the Russian consulate on the island of Bali

According to representatives of the Russian diplomatic mission, the Indonesian side agreed in principle to open a consulate. Technical details are currently being agreed upon. There is currently an honorary consul of the Russian Federation in Bali, where DarmaVijaya, who, although not a Russian civil servant, can carry out certain consular duties with the support of the Russian diplomatic mission in Indonesia.

Also in early February, Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Lyudmila Vorobyova noted that direct flights between Moscow and Bali could be resumed in the near future. She stressed that this island is very popular among Russian tourists. According to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia, more than 143,000 tourists from Russia arrived in the country in 2023.
