To Turkey by car

September 16, 2020

On the roads of Turkey, you can often find cars with foreign license plates. This raises a number of questions, the most popular of which will be answered in this article.
When crossing the border of Turkey, the car must be driven directly by its owner. Of the necessary documents, you will need: a foreign passport, a driver's license, and you will also need insurance for Your car. By the way, insurance can be issued directly at the customs-trafik sigortası. It will cost about a hundred dollars.
If you only have a tourist visa, Your car must not stay in Turkey for more than three months. If you have a residence permit, you can "attach" your car to it. In this case, the car can be in Turkey for two years. After two years, it must be removed from the country for a period of at least six months.
The most important thing to know is that if you are leaving Turkey in a different car, you should definitely notify the transport border service. This can be done either in the city where you live in Turkey, or at the airport. To do this, you will need to present a technical passport of the car. Ignoring this requirement, a fine is issued at the border. It depends on many factors (the model of the car, the period of its stay in Turkey, the presence of fines, and much more).
