Named countries popular among Russians for buying real estate

June 30, 2021

In January-May 2021, Russians were interested in foreign real estate mainly for investment and immigration purposes. Irina Mosheva, partner of the Savills elite real estate agency in Russia, told Izvestia about this on Saturday, June 26th.

According to her, since last year our compatriots have begun to pay more attention to objects, the acquisition of which can contribute to obtaining the status of a resident or citizen of another country. Clients of the agency apply for second passports and residence permits (residence permits) primarily in order to be able to move freely around the world, including during the coronavirus pandemic.

After analyzing the requests of Russians, the agency noted a great interest in the Mediterranean countries. Turkey and Bulgaria are popular in the budget segment, on average - Montenegro, Portugal, Spain and Cyprus, and in the more expensive segment - Italy and France.

“These areas are mainly chosen for life and investment residency or citizenship, government programs in almost all of these countries involve obtaining a residence permit or a second passport for investing in real estate,” said Misheva.
