November 15, 2021

The International Marine Debris Monitoring Program (MLW) was first organized at Galip Dere Beach.
Turkey acted as the country where this system will be tested for the first time. All methods are planned to be implemented together with the International Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and the European Environment Community. The Foundation for Environmental Education of Turkey (TÜRÇEV) is making the most of its efforts to implement the cleaning of beaches and contributes to the development of such initiatives. They are also supported by the Alanya Municipality, which indicates serious intentions to help cleanse the world's oceans from all kinds of garbage.

Research is planned to be carried out 4 times a year, that is, every new season of the year.
Early purification attempts revealed that the most popular wastes are cigarette butts, plastic bottles and tissues.
