Airport Chukurov in Mersin will open August 10

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced that Chukurov airport will be inaugurated by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on August 10.  According to the Minister, about 244.5 million euros were invested in the construction of the 800-hectare airport without the use of public funds. Within 25 years from these investments the state will receive 297 million 100 thousand euros profit from rent. 

Abdulkadir Uraloglu: "Chukurov Airport, designed for 8 million passengers, will promote the development of tourism and trade both in the region and in the country. The widest-bodied passenger aircraft can land and take off on a 3,500-metre runway to CAT-II standards. The airport will be Turkey’s second largest cargo hub and gateway to the Middle East. With the commissioning of the airport, the role of the region in international trade will be further strengthened".

The airport has a 217,000-square-metre apron for 40 aircraft, a 62,000-square-metre cargo apron and a 56,000-square-metre aircraft apron for 34 aircraft. The airport will provide direct and indirect employment for 3,000 people.

Uraloglu added that the goal of Turkey is to increase the number of airports to 61 by 2053.

Turkey's Finance Ministry to Reveal Names of Major Tax Debtors

Finance and Treasury Minister Mehmet Simsek said the names of taxpayers with tax arrears and fines of 5 million lira or more will be made public.
