Was - DASK, will be - ZAS

August 21, 2023

The mandatory earthquake insurance DASK will soon be replaced by ZAS. The purpose of the innovation is to reduce the cost of damage caused to the economy by natural disasters. Selva Eren, CEO of Türk Reinsurance and TCIP, said ZAS will cover damage from all natural disasters, including earthquakes and floods. Eren also said the draft law has been finalized and sent to the Insurance and Non-State Pension Regulatory and Supervisory Agency (SEDDK).

"DASK will become mandatory insurance against all natural disasters, not just earthquakes. From now on, there will be a ZAS policy that will cover damage to both the dwelling and the property in it. For example, in floods, belongings are damaged more than the dwelling. Citizens will be able to get a comprehensive policy by paying a single premium. At the same time, premiums will be kept at a reasonable level," Selva Eren said

Currently, the maximum amount of payments under the DASK policy is 640 thousand liras. In the new ZAC policy it will be 1 million 280 thousand liras. In addition to compulsory insurance policies, citizens always have the opportunity to take out a voluntary insurance policy with different coverage limits.
