Not only foreigners are not satisfied with the new rules concerning the increase of the threshold for obtaining a residence permit on tapu from 75 thousand dollars to 200 thousand dollars. Representatives of Alanya's construction and real estate sectors have once again appealed to government officials to cancel or change the new circular. Alanya has always lived off the influx of not only tourists but also foreign investors. Both businessmen and officials believe that the new rules will negatively affect both the profits of local companies and the amount of taxes coming into the budget.
Mustafa Küçüker, president of the Alanya Contractors Association (MÜTBİR), said: "We have approached the Presidential Investment Office on this issue and had a preliminary meeting. We will go to Ankara next week to submit our proposals to the Presidency. The task of the Presidential Investment Office is to ensure the inflow of investments to our country from abroad, and such decisions scare away investors and undermine business confidence. At least for a transitional period it is necessary to exempt from the new rules those projects and sales that have notarized contracts. We also ask to reconsider the size of the established threshold of 200 thousand dollars in a smaller direction. Alanya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ALTSO), Alanya Association of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (ALSİAD), TTPT and commercial organizations will continue to work on this issue".
