Ashure is not just a dish of traditional Turkish cuisine. It is a dessert that is prepared only in a certain period and it is related to religion. Ashure is prepared a few weeks after Eid al-Adha, on the tenth day of the month of Muharram (19.07.2023 - 16.08.2023). This is the day of creation of all living things and the birth of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham). By making ashureh believers thank Allah for all the blessings they have.
Foreigners sometimes do not understand the taste of ashureh. We must admit that it is really for the amateur. In terms of taste, ashureh can be compared to Druzhba porridge with fillings in the form of nuts, fruits and dried fruits. By the way, children in most cases like the taste of this unusual dessert. The original recipe for ashure includes 40 ingredients, but now Turkish housewives prepare it from 10-15 items (chickpeas, beans, wheat, rice, raisins, apricots, almonds, peanuts, sugar, cinnamon, pomegranate seeds, pistachios, etc.).
Ready ashure is obligatory to treat relatives, neighbors, friends and acquaintances. So, if your neighbors in Turkey bring you a plate with ashure - never refuse, so as not to offend them.
