Turkey's Education Ministry has banned the practice of "class mothers" (sınıf annesi), which aims to improve communication between teachers and parents but is often the subject of controversy.
The ministry called for an end to the practice after complaints that class mothers collect fees from parents, demand money for teaching materials, interfere in lessons and record videos of students.
The report emphasizes that interference in the educational environment by non-teachers is contrary to pedagogical principles and can compromise the quality of education, and instructs governors to prevent such practices and take necessary measures.
