"Galatasaray and Manchester United in a Champions League soccer match in Istanbul.

November 29, 2023

Today at 20-45 at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium (Rams Park) in Istanbul will be the most important match for Turkish soccer fans between Galatasaray and Manchester United. In case of victory Galatasaray will go to the 1/8 finals of the Champions League.

The teams have a long history of rivalry and plus today's match is an interesting coincidence: exactly 30 years ago, in November 1993, the teams also played a decisive match in the Champions League (in Istanbul). The game ended 0-0, which was actually a victory for the Turks, as Galatasaray advanced to the 1/8 finals of the Champions League.

And now after 30 years the teams are in almost the same situation and today's match is also decisive for both of them. It is noteworthy that Manchester United has never scored to Galatasaray in games played on the territory of Turkey (0:0, 0:0 and 0:1).

By the way, the match 30 years ago was accompanied by pogroms, fights and constant clashes of fans. Even the players themselves got hurt! What can you say about it? English fans have always had the reputation of the most beaten in all of Europe, well, and the temperament of the Turks is difficult not to notice even in everyday life, let alone when it comes to soccer! Therefore, we advise you to be careful in the evening, especially if you will be in the venue and surrounding areas.
