Turkey’s cleanest and most polluted cities

The World Air Quality Report 2023 analyses air pollution indicators in 134 countries worldwide. The report published annually by the Swiss company IQAir, specializing in air quality control technologies, is based on the measurement of fine particulate density (PM 2.5) per m3 (the maximum value of PM2.5 should be 5 ug/m3). According to the report, 124 of 134 countries and regions breathe polluted air

The report uses World Health Organization (WHO) air pollution thresholds. Only seven countries in the world in 2023 had clean air below these thresholds. These countries are Australia, Estonia, Finland, Grenada, Iceland, Mauritius and New Zealand.

Countries with the most polluted air: Pakistan (14 times the WHO regulatory value), India (10 times), Tajikistan (9 times) and Burkina Faso (9 times).

Turkey ranked 44th in this report with a PM 2.5 of 20.3.

According to the report, which published indicators of 214 observation stations in Turkey, the cleanest stations were in the following cities:

Aryköy in Istanbul (5.6)
Agli to Kastamonu (5.8)
Odunpazars in Eskisehir (7.8)
Chankyrs (8.1)
Hasanbei in Eskisehir (8.7)
Kirshehir (9)
Etmesgut in Ankara (9.3)

The most dirty were the stations in the following cities:

Vygdyr (47.2)
Osmania (38.5)
Hendek (37.3)
Gazianterp (36)
Nilüfer (34)
Konya (33.9)
Alashehir (33.5)
Diuzge (31)
Iskenderun (30.5)
Kahramanmarash (29)

Turkey's Finance Ministry to Reveal Names of Major Tax Debtors

Finance and Treasury Minister Mehmet Simsek said the names of taxpayers with tax arrears and fines of 5 million lira or more will be made public.
