June 29, 2023

Foreigners living permanently in Turkey, of course, have already studied the mentality of the locals and either accept it or not. However, during these festive days, even tourists in resort areas have the opportunity to get acquainted with the traditions, customs and character of the locals, because during Kurban Bayram all Turks forget about work and whole families go to the sea.

So, the Turks. What are they like?

Curious.
Turks are always curious about newcomers: who they are, where they come from, with whom and why they arrived. And if he is a foreigner, you can not avoid a lot of questions. At first such directness certainly shocks foreigners, but on the plus side Turks are both curious and...

Responsive.
If you need help anywhere in Turkey, you can be sure that you will get it. Locals never cite lack of time or unwillingness to waste time. For example, if you ask for directions, you can not only show them, but also lead, finding out where you come from, how do you work and even how much you earn (see point 1). If during the conversation it turns out that you are unmarried, they will certainly start to match you, because the Turks and ...

3. Family people
Family always comes first for Turks. Family ties are very strong in Turkey, and Turks pay a lot of attention to supporting and taking care of their loved ones. Families are large and close-knit. On holidays, all relatives gather and spend time together. Men actively participate in raising children, walk with them on playgrounds and of course, carry them in their arms, kiss and cuddle, because Turks are also...

4. emotional.
You can always see in any Turk what mood he is in, good or bad, because they are not used to hide their emotions. If you do not see it then you will definitely hear it as the walls in Turkish houses are not as thick as in the CIS countries. Plus Turks are not used to be restrained like, for example, the Europeans. If the Turk is having fun all the neighbors will know about it, and if he fights with his wife even the residents of the neighboring houses will hear about it!  Still, the main reason why several million foreigners fly to Turkey every year is that Turks....

5. Hospitable
Turks are very fond of welcoming guests. They are perhaps the most hospitable nation in the world. Foreigners coming to Turkey are frankly surprised to find such an attitude to people and life, but they quickly get used to it, because you get used to all good things quickly, don't you agree?
