Istanbulkart: a travel ticket in Istanbul

Istanbulkart is a convenient contactless card for paying for public transport in Istanbul. It allows you to quickly and easily pay for travel throughout the city’s transportation system. It is the most affordable and efficient way of moving around the city. With the help of Istanbulkart you can pay not only in transport, but also in restaurants, museums, taxis, shops and gas stations.


Public transport in Istanbul:
Metro: The metro network, including Marmaray and Tünel, is the second oldest metro in Europe.
Metrobuses: buses that travel on designated lanes, avoiding traffic jams. Metrobuses connect the outskirts of the city.
Buses: routes cover the entire city.
Route taxi: blue minibuses with standing and yellow routes only with seats.
By ferry: routes on the Bosphorus, Golden Horn, Prince Islands, as well as car ferries, boats and catamarans.
Tram: runs on the European side of Istanbul.
Retro tram: connects Taksim square and Istiklal street.
Funicular: connects the station Kābataş with the square Taksim.
Cable car: routes Mačka - Taškyczyna and Eyup - Pijer Lotti.


How to buy a pass:
Istanbulkart and single tickets can be purchased at the Biletmatik ticket machines, as well as at ticket counters and kiosks at metro, ferry, tram and bus stops. Terminals often accept only cash. At the new Istanbul Airport (IST), you can purchase passes on the 2nd floor in the arrivals area or at the shuttle bus stations at the exits. At the Sabiha Gokchen airport, there are bus stops with vending machines.


Instructions for purchasing a travel pass:
Select language.
Click on the "Buy Card" tab and select the option you want: one-off trip, Istanbulkart recharge or Istanbulkart purchase.
Insert the money into the receipt and confirm the operation.
Take the card and check from the bottom of the terminal by pushing the transparent wall.

Types of transport cards:
Red (Anonim Kart) - map for tourists.
Blue (Mavi Kart) - monthly subscription.
Green (İndirimli Kart) - card for preferential categories of passengers.
Yellow (Ücretsiz Kart) is a free social card.


All cards except the red anonymous one are valid only for citizens of Turkey and persons having VWP of Turkey, as they are named.


How to use the terminal:
To pay for your journey, please attach a ticket card to the terminal at the beginning of your trip. In the metrobus, attach a map and at the end of the trip as the cost depends on the number of stops. In the Istanbul metro, when changing from one branch to another, you have to pay for the transfer again.

Rules for the import of medicines in the UAE in 2024 

The UAE authorities remind citizens who wish to visit the country of the need to obtain a special permit for carrying certain types of medicines. The new guide, issued in the UAE, is intended for residents, tourists and transit passengers who plan to bring medical drugs into the country. Travelers should carry prescriptions for some medicines and check if they are subject to special control. For the importation of controlled drugs, travellers must obtain prior authorization from Mohap and submit relevant documents in Arabic or English, Including a valid medical prescription and an authenticated certificate or authorization from the competent authority of the country of dispatch. Travellers may import prescription drugs for personal use for a period of no more than three months, provided they have an active medical prescription. The UAE prohibits the importation of unregistered or banned drugs, as well as medicinal herbs that may be authorized in the country of origin. For all other herbal medicines, the import procedure is similar to conventional prescription drugs.

Drilling and research vessels of Turkey

The will in Turkey: important information for foreigners 

If a foreigner wants to leave a will in Turkey, it is important to consider that it must comply with Turkish inheritance law. Turkish law provides for a guaranteed share (saklı pay) for certain categories of heirs, regardless of the contents of the will. Such heirs include children, spouses and parents.
