The Ayakapi Hammam, built in 1582 for Nurbanu Walide Sultan, wife of Sultan Selim II, is for sale for $ 2 million. The hammam is located in Istanbul's Fatih district, offering a unique view of the Golden Horn. It was built by the famous Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan. 67 years ago, the building became private property, was used for some time as a timber warehouse and gradually fell into disrepair.
Historian Mehmet Dilbazi criticized the neglect of this historic building and stressed that the cultural heritage must be protected by concrete steps. Dilbaz said: "If this building is not repaired, in 20-25 years it will collapse and we will not have a chance to restore it."
