Russian and Turkish Presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan held talks in Sochi on September 4. The meeting between Putin and Erdogan lasted about three hours. At first, the members of the delegation communicated among themselves, after which the leaders of the countries continued the talks over lunch. 

Putin:
Today's talks were held in a constructive and businesslike atmosphere, we discussed all the key issues of Russian-Turkish cooperation in the field of politics, economics and security
Moscow ready to return to discussion of grain deal

Russia hopes to finalize negotiations on the creation of a gas hub in Turkey in the near future.

Erdogan:

 Negotiations over grain export initiative from Ukraine will be significant for countries in Africa and around the world

Ankara and Moscow are moving toward the goal of reaching a $100 billion trade turnover.

We support cooperation with Russia in the energy sector, especially in natural gas. I believe that we will develop these relations further.

The construction of the Akkuyu NPP in Turkey continues in a positive way. Moreover, Turkey and the Russian Federation may reach an agreement on the construction of a second nuclear power plant in the republic


The US State Department issued a statement regarding the meeting between Erdogan and Putin in Sochi. The statement said, "We urge Russia to implement the grain agreement The United States and the United Nations are grateful for Turkey's assistance in this matter."
