Professor Dr. Murat Durukan, Head of the Department of Archaeology at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Mersin University, said that Mersin's archaeological areas have high potential and if they are comprehensively explored, they will multiply the region's attractiveness in terms of tourism. "Mersin is one of the richest regions in Turkey in terms of archaeological sites, both registered and unregistered. Besides the well-known Kızkalesi, Adamkayalar, Cennet Cehennem, Kanlıdivane, there are many more sites in Mersin that need to be explored as soon as possible. When we do, we can make the city attractive to both tourists and investors by making archaeological sites the centers of attraction of the region," the professor said.
