International Cycling Festival kicked off in Mersin

The 10th International Cycling Festival, organized by the Mersin Cycling Association with the support of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, kicked off in Mersin. As part of the festival, Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Secher welcomed the cyclists and emphasized the importance of the sport. Secher said that 125 kilometers of bicycle paths have been built in Mersin in the last 4 years and another 275 kilometers are planned to be built in the coming years. "As long as I am in office, we will work to increase the use of bicycles, which are beneficial in many fields, from human health to the environment, from fighting climate change to the economy," the mayor said.

Mersin Bicycle Association President Suleyman Uygun emphasized the importance of holding the festival as part of the European Traffic Week. Cyclists from 81 provinces in Turkey and 8 countries are participating in the festival.
