A ceremony was held at Çatalca Cumhuriyet Square to commemorate the Alaiye Battalion for the 111th time. 567 soldiers of the battalion died on November 17, 1912 at the Çatalca defense line during the Balkan War.

The ceremony began with the laying of wreaths, followed by speeches by Çatalca Deputy District Head Tolga Togan, Garrison Commander Lieutenant Colonel Kayhan Kartaltepe, Çatalca Mayor Mesut Üner, representatives of political parties, non-governmental organizations and Çatalca residents.

Alanya City Council Chairwoman Nurhan Ozkan said in her speech: "On November 17, 1912, 657 brave men from the Alaye Battalion, without blinking an eye, voluntarily gave their lives for their homeland on the defensive line of Çatalca during the Balkan War. A nation that does not know its past has no future, so it is our duty not to forget the sacrifice of our heroic compatriots and to tell future generations about their great sacrifice."
