Mersin Municipality, which helps street animals in Bozyazı, Silifke and Kaşlı temporary animal detention centers through the Department for Work with Domestic and Homeless Animals, continues to work to improve the quality and expand the service sector every day.In 2023, 174 tons of dry food were purchased for street animal feed. 6,000 dogs and cats were sterilized and 7,200 more pets were vaccinated against rabies and other diseases.
In 2024, the municipality plans to launch a project for the production of dry feed from food residues and purchase all the necessary equipment for this. The municipality also increased the number of ambulances from 1 to 5, the number of technicians from 7 to 15, and the number of veterinarians from 10 to 12 people.
