It turns out that Izmir municipality has a department for LGBT representatives

September 19, 2023

This was revealed by Izmir Mayor Tunç Soyer in a video interview. Tunç Soyer said that LGBT representatives can address their problems to the Equality and Justice Department recently established at the city municipality.

"We have a department in our municipality that we created, probably the first in Turkey, which is the Equality and Justice Department. We created it for all citizens who are oppressed in society and cannot enjoy the same opportunities as other citizens. The employees of the department work for those people who are deprived of their rights or discriminated against. Citizens can come to them with any problems and demands - from housing to education, from health to safety," said Tunc Sawyer.
