The pier, built in the Anamur area of Mersin, is the nearest point to Northern Cyprus and is ready for ferry service. A travel company was established under the direction of the Governor with the support of the District Administration, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and businessmen. The ferry, designed for 450 passengers, will depart from the pier in Anamura (next to the customs building) and continue to the port of Girne in the TRNC. The journey time will be 1.5 hours. Governor Ali Hamza Pahlivan visited Anamur, inspected the pier and said that flights will begin in June.
"Anamur - an area with good tourist potential. Ferry service will not only increase the tourist mobility of the region, but will be full and nearby provinces of Central Anatolia: from Antalya to Karaman, from Konya to Adana and Nowhere," - said Pahlivan.
