Turkish news TV channels are reporting a critical situation with water supply in Istanbul: there is less than 2 months of water left in the reservoirs. Five of the ten main reservoirs are less than 2% full. According to the mayor's office, water reserves in Istanbul's reservoirs due to the hot, dry weather have dropped to 32.38% of normal - the lowest level in the last nine years.
At the same time, Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu said that no precipitation is expected in the coming week and urged citizens to conserve water.
