May 25, 2023

The Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources of Northern Cyprus, Dursun Oguz, announced the launch of the second stage of the project to provide water to agricultural enterprises located in Mesarya and Guzelyurt. Currently, water from Turkey is used only to meet the needs of drinking water. The second stage includes the construction of power lines for the delivery and distribution of water to the agricultural areas of Northern Cyprus.

The water will be delivered from the Turkish province of Mersin via an underwater pipeline. The irrigation system will be used on a plot of 97.200 hectares. 3 years have been allocated for the implementation of the project.

The Minister noted that upon completion of construction, farmers will be able to significantly increase the volume of agricultural products produced, the number of pastures and livestock farms.
