Turkish retailers will switch to the standardized GS1 QR-code system

According to a joint statement signed by the heads of 20 companies, retailers and e-commerce platforms, in Turkey will be implemented "QR-code system in GS1 standards" The retail trade will update its cash register systems to read GS1 QR codes.

The international open standard GS1 is designed to automatically identify various goods, services, locations, storage and transport units through unique numbers. The GS1 International Association develops and maintains an identification system. GS1 standards define a set of unique identification keys that provide easy and fast access to data about goods in supply chains. 

Ozgur Tort, GS1 Turkey and GS1 Global Board member, Chief Executive Officer of the Migros Group: "With this agreement, we will make the standardized GS1 QR code system ready for use at all cash registers and on the internet by 2027. Our customers will be able to track all kinds of products with the help of QR code GS1. Information such as product production time, batch, place of production, shelf life (STT), composition, instructions and processing information will be available. This will ensure a complete traceability of the supply chain from producer to buyer".

- In the "Gıda kontrol" section, select the line "İşletme Denetim Sorgulama"
