Chain stores in Turkey are obliged to provide a range of gluten-free products

In order to make it easier for people with gluten intolerance to access gluten-free products, new rules have been introduced in the food retail sector. In accordance with the communique published by the Ministry of Commerce, sellers were obligated to sell gluten-free food products. The decision was published in the Official Gazette.

Chain stores with more than two hundred branches must sell gluten-free flour products, sweet and salty snacks and snacks in those branches with a retail area of 250-400 m2. Branches with a retail area of more than 400 m2 are required to additionally sell gluten-free bread, flour and pasta.

The law comes into force on June 1, 2024.
