The municipality of the Turkish city of Bolu has been given the right to impose fines ranging from 1 million to 5 million liras on individuals or institutions that throw animals on the street. The law also applies to those who bring animals from other provinces in Turkey.
Expressing his opinion on the issue, Bolu Mayor Tanju Ozkan said: " We have analyzed the law. There is no provision for this in the law. There are provisions and penalties for cruelty to animals, but there is no penalty for abandoning animals." In the vote, the motion was unanimously approved.
