A fine totaling 78,530,902 liras has been imposed on 44 online commerce companies in Turkey

The Ministry of Trade has imposed a fine totaling 78,530,902 liras on 44 e-commerce companies that violated Law No. 6502 "On Consumer Protection" and "Distance Selling Regulation". Thanks to the timely work carried out, both consumers were protected and the negative consequences of companies that supported unfair competition in the industry were prevented.

According to the ministry, online commerce in the country was 9.8% in 2019, 15.7% in 2020 and 18.6% in 2022. In monetary terms, e-commerce volume amounted to 800.7 billion liras in 2022, an increase of 109% compared to 2021. The number of orders increased from 3 billion. 347 million to 4 billion. 787 million in 2022, an increase of 43% compared to 2021.
