Foreigners who have exceeded the period of visa-free stay in Turkey, or have been denied a residence permit, will be issued a fine and in some cases a ban on entry when leaving the country. When leaving the country, the passport control officer will calculate the amount of the fine and issue a receipt for its payment. The amount of the fine depends on your nationality and the length of time you have been overstaying.

Time limits for entry ban for overstaying visa-free regime/expiration of residence permit/visa:
6 to 12 months: ban for 3 months
1 to 2 years: ban for 1 year
2 to 3 years: ban for 2 years
more than 3 years: ban for 5 years
Time limits for entry ban in case of non-payment of the fine for overstaying the visa-free regime/expiration of the residence permit/visa and/or exceeding the time limit given by the Migration Service for leaving the country:
up to 3 months: ban for 3 months
from 3 to 6 months: ban for 6 months
from 6 to 12 months: ban for 1 year
1 to 2 years: 2 years ban
more than 2 years: ban for 5 years
