Cheese produced in Northern Cyprus will be exported to Europe

In February 2023, the European Commission decided to have producers of milk and dairy products in Northern Cyprus by the independent inspection body Bureau Veritas.  
The TRNC Chamber of Industry announced that the number of farms that have received a certificate of conformity for the production of raw milk suitable for helim cheese has now increased to 11, and the local producer "Gülgün Süt Ürünleri" has received an international PDO certificate.
 
"We plan to start selling cheeses to the European Union as early as next year," said Kemal Ozturk, head of the certification department of the TRNC Industrial Chamber.
