Turkish teacher has been named among the world's 50 best teachers

Tuba Dumlu Güler (39) from Erzurum has beaten 7,000 competitors from 130 countries to make it to the list of the world's 50 best teachers in the 2023 Global Teacher Prize competition. The competition is organized by UNESCO in cooperation with the Varkey GEMS Foundation, whose honorary chairman is former US President Bill Clinton. 

Güler graduated from the Faculty of Education at Ataturk University in 2007 in the Department of Science Teaching. Tuba, a mother of two, has already received the title of "Best Teacher of the Year" twice in 2013 and 2019 from the Ministry of National Education.

By the way, the prize money in the competition is 1 million dollars!  "If I get the first prize of 1 million dollars, I would like to build a beautiful big school equipped with laboratories and workshops where children can learn 21st century skills and express themselves," said Tuba.

Turkey's Finance Ministry to Reveal Names of Major Tax Debtors

Finance and Treasury Minister Mehmet Simsek said the names of taxpayers with tax arrears and fines of 5 million lira or more will be made public. Those who do not want to be on the list of "tax debtors" will have to pay off their debts by the end of September 2024. Taxpayers from earthquake-hit areas will be excluded from the measure.
