Honey collected in the highlands in the Turkish province of Bitlis by beekeeper Serdar Nevzat Arsan has already won the prestigious Golden Honey award for the second time at an international competition held in Paris. Last year, the Tbilisi honey won a similar award at a competition in London. As a result of laboratory analyses and tests, it was determined that Bitlis honey has the best indicators for the content of nutrients and pollen. In total, about 200 varieties of honey from 45 countries were evaluated in the competition.
"We are proud that we have already received the Golden Honey award twice. The main factor that makes our honey so unique and valuable is the terrain. Hundreds of endemic and medicinal plants grow in our highlands, which give our honey a unique taste and healing properties," Ersan said.
