The Turkish Statistical Institute has published statistics on marriages and divorces for 2023

According to TURKSTAT, the number of married couples, as well as the number of divorced couples, has decreased compared to last year. The number of married couples in 2023 was 565,435. The number of divorced couples was 171,881. It was also noted that the age of first marriage increased and amounted to 28.3 years for men and 25.7 years for women.

The province with the highest number of married couples is Kilis (8.09 per thousand people), followed by Aksaray (7.81 per thousand) and Gaziantep (7.57 per thousand). The province with the lowest number of married couples is Gyumyushkhan - 4.52 per thousand people.

Izmir became the province with the highest divorce rate with an index of 3.05 per thousand people. Izmir is followed by Antalya with 2.94 per thousand and Karaman with 2.80 per thousand. The province with the lowest divorce rate is Hakkari with an index of 0.36 per thousand people, followed by Sirnak with 0.44 per thousand and Mush with 0.55 per thousand people. At the same time, 33.4% of divorces occurred during the first 5 years of marriage, and 21.7% - during 6-10 years of marriage.

Speaking of marriages concluded with foreigners, 6,345 were foreign grooms and 31,029 were foreign brides. Among the grooms, German grooms took 1st place - 21.9%, followed by Syrian grooms - 19.2% and Austrian grooms - 5.1%. Among the brides, Uzbek brides took 1st place - 12.0%, followed by Syrian brides - 11.3% and Azerbaijani brides - 9.1%.
