January 29, 2024

Mahmoud Shahin, 46, lives in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. In April last year, a 3.7 kg meteorite fell in the garden of his house. Mahmut took the meteorite to the experts, who found out that the meteorite is an H-type chondrite with a high metal content. Scientists also said that the stone came from the meteorite belt between Mars and Jupiter, having traveled several million kilometers.

In an interview with the German newspaper Bild, Shahin said: "When we announced the meteorite fall, we received offers to buy the stone from India, Qatar and the USA, but we decided that the stone would remain in Germany, as it is important for me and my family. We are currently negotiating, which will be completed soon." Shahin did not name the price of the meteorite, but according to experts, it is more than 200 thousand euros. With the money received from the sale of the meteorite, Mahmoud plans to buy real estate.
