March 1, 2024

Mehmet Molla Osman oglu, an engineer and writer, spoke about the unusual pakai fruit that he brought to Alanya and grew. "This is a very interesting and beautiful fruit. I am glad that I brought him to Alanya. We got the first fruits last year," Mehmet says.

Pakai, which looks like a giant bean, has never been grown in Alanya before. His homeland is considered to be Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. The trees reach a height of 18 meters and bear fruit in huge pods, inside of which there is an edible sweet white pulp and large black seeds, which can also be eaten after cooking. Other names of the fruit are Guaba, Guamo, Inga, bean ice cream.

Pakai is a low-calorie and very useful product: it prevents the formation of blood clots in the arteries, has antidiarrheal and anti-rheumatic effects. Pakai is rich in vitamins A, B, C and is a source of calcium, phosphorus and iron.
