August 6, 2024

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the Tshemali-Erdemli-Silifke-Tashudzha highway project, which will connect the areas of Mersin, is still in intensive operation. The Minister visited a construction site in the Erdemli district where work is being carried out on the Českami-Kyzkalesi section - the first phase of the project. Accompanied by Governor Ali Hamza Pehliwan and Director-General of Highways Akhmet Gulshen Urologlu was briefed on the progress achieved. The road construction site is occupied by 1,330 people and 204 units of construction equipment. In the near future, it is planned to increase the number of machines to 500 and the number of workers - to 3 thousand people.

Uraloglu: "The project is a total of 53 kilometers of road: 42 kilometers of main road and 11 kilometers of adjacent roads. We hope that with this project we will solve the problem of the section to Kyzkalesi, where the traffic is currently most congested. When it’s finished, we can get through the 2.5-hour traffic jams in 18 to 20 minutes. This is an important project that will contribute to the development of our region and Mersin in general".
