enTaxi fares increased by 28.09 in Istanbul%

Taxi drivers in Istanbul are updating taximeters due to a 28.09% increase in fares from January 12, 2024. In accordance with the UKOME decision, the car delivery fee increased from 19.17 to 24.55 liras, the fare per kilometer increased from 13.75 to 17.61 liras and the minimum cost of the trip increased from 70 to 90 liras.
Taxi driver Shenol Akgul, who updated the taximeter at the station, said that the new tariff did not seem fair to him: "We expected an increase of 35-40%, at least to the minimum wage, but the increase was only 28.09%."

Turkey s state-owned energy company Botas has signed a new long-term contract with France s TotalEnergies for the supply of 16 cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year. Turkey's Finance Ministry to Reveal Names of Major Tax Debtors
Finance and Treasury Minister Mehmet Simsek said the names of taxpayers with tax arrears and fines of 5 million lira or more will be made public. Those who do not want to be on the list of "tax debtors" will have to pay off their debts by the end of September 2024. Taxpayers from earthquake-hit areas will be excluded from the measure.
