In Turkey, 11 thousand sturgeon fry were released into the sea in Sinop province

November 28, 2023

Eleven thousand sturgeon fry were released into the sea in Sinop with the participation of Agriculture and Forestry Minister Ibrahim Yumakli in order to increase the number of endangered live sturgeon.

Minister Yumakli said: "Sturgeons are among the species that are very difficult to raise. The Amasya Provincial Directorate of Agriculture raised sturgeon fry and released 11,000 fry into the waters of the Black Sea covering the area from Sakarya to Samsun once they reached a sufficient size. Sturgeon is a product with very high added value, as it is the fish from which black caviar is produced. Our specialized General Directorate continues to work with these fish species both within the balance of conservation of the species and to increase the fishery".
