Grounds for obtaining a residence permit in Northern Cyprus.
- purchase of real estate in the northern part of the island (it is enough to pay 30% of the cost of the object at the time of submitting an application to the migration service);
- study or internship at a local university;
- the need for prolonged treatment;
- ownership of a yacht, boat, or other swimming facility that regularly calls at the ports of Northern Cyprus;
- participation in international exchange programs;
- a court decision obliging a foreign citizen to stay in the territory of the state for a certain period of time;
The TRNC legislation allows different categories of foreigners to reside in the northern part of Cyprus without obtaining a residence permit.
Categories of foreigners who do not need to issue a residence permit:
- women and men who have created families with local citizens;
- persons under the age of 18;
- personnel who arrived in Northern Cyprus to work in accordance with international law;
- employees of branches of international companies who arrived on a business trip;
- diplomats and employees of consulates, members of their families;
- foreigners who are allowed by law to reside on the territory of the TRNC without obtaining a residence permit;
- military personnel;
The process of obtaining a residence permit in Northern Cyprus.
An application for a residence permit must be submitted within 30 days from the date of receipt of the basic permit, which is automatically granted upon entry into Northern Cyprus. It is necessary to contact the "Immigration Department of the district Police Department" in the area of residence. You can fill out the questionnaire online on the website https://permissions.gov.ct.tr/staypermit/login . Applications after initial consideration within 10 days are sent to the Immigration Department, whose employees make the decision. Depending on the grounds for which a residence permit is granted, the following documents may be required, prepared in duplicate:
- original passport
- a copy of the passport pages, where the photo and stamp with the date of entry are placed.
- original/copy of the real estate purchase agreement with stamp duty stamp
- certificate from the district headman about the address of residence (Ikametgah Belgesi)
- 2 photos
- medical insurance policy
- documents confirming the payment of tuition, treatment, etc.
- marriage certificate translated into Turkish and certified by the Ministry of Internal Affairs
- birth certificates of children under the age of 18, translated into Turkish
- an extract from a local bank confirming a sufficient amount of money for living (11280 euros per year per person)
The primary residence permit is issued for a period of 6 months to a year.
